Claudette: Mamma of African Home

Claudette Davis is owner and CEO of African Home. From a background of psychology, Claudette chose to change track completely and try her hand as an entrepreneur in the world of craft. With a deep interest in beautifully crafted handiwork she and Michal Leon started African Home in 2002. The basis for starting the company was the realization that many highly skilled crafters were unemployed because they lacked the markets to sell their crafts. Claudette manages the company but loves getting involved in the design process .She is married to Dennis and has two children who are students at University of Cape Town. .

Peter: Savvy Sales and Marketing Man

Peter Namupira’s sales and marketing background stems from humble beginnings.

As the youngest of nine children, growing up in Zimbabwe, he financed much of his education through his family’s home industry ventures. He later engaged in curio trading to fund his higher academic qualifications in The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Advanced Diploma in Management. Peter’s social and professional versatility make him a valuable team member.

Teri: Compassionate Creator

Teri Jedeikin’s academic training in Psychology, Social Anthropology and Theatre Design reflect her love of culture, creativity and social outreach. It was during her university studies that Teri began her career in craft, working in gift shops, local markets and also creating her own stock for small business sales. However, living and travelling in Asian developing countries first inspired her to merge her passion for product development with social outreach. At African Home, Teri enjoys the opportunity to engage with crafters on a grassroots level, witnessing how creative skills can make a difference to so many lives.
